Instructions for my colleagues.
To upgrade or not
XP machine - check if you have the drivers, especially the video card driver
Vista - usually safe. Recommended if you don't need IT support
I'll suggest you install a fresh OS, but people have tried upgrading from Vista successfully. You keep the current settings, but you don't save any HD space. (Vista uses at least 5GB more than Win7. And if you get rid of the COE partition, that's another 5GB.)
What you need
Windows 7 DVD with corporate key
Office 2007 DVD with corporate key
PC-COE 3.1
If you don't install PC-COE, you'll get a love letter from IT after one month. You can choose to ignore it... at your own risk.
Post-installation config
- Join domain (config your a/c after you join the domain)
- Lower network authentication to access our Linux workstations
- to VPN in: RemoteAccess and ActivClient (download from RemoteAccess website)
Notes
- QC 9.2 and 10.0 does not run in IE 8 in Win7. I tried with UAC on and off.
